The Choir of Chingford Parish Church, London, will be singing the daily services at Exeter Cathedral From August 3rd – 9th. They are a large choir comprising independent boy and girl choristers together with a large number of adults providing the lower musical parts. They maintain a cathedral-style choral repertoire at Chingford and frequently sing in cathedrals around the country, including St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey, when the resident choirs are on holiday. They recently went on tour to Rome, which included singing at St Peter’s Basilica. The adult lower voices of the choir will be visiting Ottery St Mary at 9pm on Thursday 6th August to sing the ancient plainchant Office of Compline, which lasts just under 30 minutes and to which anyone is welcome.

Please pray for the three candidates (Paul, Jordan and Julia) being confirmed by Bishop Moira on July 14^th. Even better come along and support them in person at 7pm at Ottery St Mary Church.

Lydia’s final service will be on 16th August at 10.30am at Ottery St Mary church. There will be a bring and share lunch after the service in the Dorset Aisle. If you would like to contribute food, please indicate what you will be bringing and how many it will cater for on the sheets in the Dorset Aisle.

Lydia will be licensed at Rector of St Luke’s and Christ Church on 8th September at 7pm at St Luke’s Church. You’ll find St Luke’s on Sydney Street, London, SW3 6NH. The nearest Tube stations are South Kensington (9 minute walk away) or Sloane Square (17-minute walk away).
The parish are providing a high tea at 5pm.

While major sporting events are a source of enjoyment for many, they can also be a difficult time for some people.  Sadly, evidence shows that domestic abuse can increase during high-profile football tournaments, particularly when emotions are heightened.
Domestic abuse can take many forms, including:
• physical or sexual violence
• controlling or coercive behaviour
• emotional or psychological abuse
• financial control.
There is never any excuse for abuse. It is the responsibility of the perpetrator.
If you or someone you know is affected by domestic abuse, help is available at any time:
• You can refer yourself to the Devon Domestic Abuse Support Service website via https://www.fearfree.org.uk or by calling them on 0345 155 1074.
