Our swift boxes are definitely attracting the attention of swifts, which is great, but we’ve had one very persistent bird that keeps managing to get inside the tower, not into a box. We have rescued it three times ourselves from the south tower stairwell. This week, Jerry from Devon Swift Project came to try and find out where it might be gaining access. They only need a 30mm gap to squeeze through. He found it inside again and here it is in the picture, on its way to being safely released outside. Jerry thinks he’s filled all the potential gaps in the bell chamber where it could have been getting in, although we will keep monitoring for the time being.
