A wholehearted welcome

Our churches are inclusive places where we recognise the diverse and different ways we are made and in which we encounter God.

Whether you are single, married, divorced, gay, trans, non-binary, or still working “you” out: you are welcome. You don’t have to have “got” faith and you can come with your doubts and questions.

Wherever you are on the spectrum of culture, ethnicity and neurodiversity our churches are there for you.

The only thing that isn’t welcome is prejudice.

Which service should I attend?

If you are new to church don’t worry if you don’t “get” everything straight away. Our services follow quite a similar pattern, so it becomes easier the more often you attend. Most of our services are services of Holy Communion but there are also services of Morning Worship and Evensong. If you have got used to living online, we have Zoom worship and plenty of website material to engage with. Children are welcome at all times.

Ways we deepen our connections

In these pages you will be able to explore some of the things we offer that bring us together on Sundays and midweek.

There may be lots of reasons you’ve decided to come to church – please make yourself known to us and find out how much there is to church than just Sunday mornings.

We care about people and we are always ready to be a listening ear, or pray with you or for you. There is coffee after services at Ottery and Wiggaton – a good chance to meet people and make new connections.

Church is also about caring for our creation and Ottery and Alfington both have biodiversity plans for their churchyards and are part of the Otter Vale Mission Community eco-group.

We have programmes of fundraising for our churches and for wider charities. There are always events happening somewhere and we try to support each other in our efforts. There is a lot of fun to be found in fundraising!
